On Thursday June 30th the San Francisco Go Club held its Annual Members Meeting to celebrate recent progress, discuss club matters, and elect new officers. With much excitement we announce Matthew Barcus will serve as SFGC’s next President, Eric Smith as Vice President, Brianna Forster as Secretary, and Winta Pang as Treasurer. Special thanks goes out to Mishal Awadah who has actively served as club President the past ~10 years and played a vital role in the club’s move into Japan Center Mall and surge in recent club activity. Also, much gratitude is extended to Paul Goodman in his role as treasurer and for his longtime leadership in the club.

A brief message to the club from the newly-elected president: I am truly grateful for the support and opportunity to serve as the next club president of the San Francisco Go Club. Through its history the San Francisco Go Club has been a cornerstone to the global Go community and an inspirational center for Go. I intend to continue the momentum we have created these past few months, and together, we will honor our club’s tradition as we build a strong community centered on the beatuiful game of Go. SFGC’s club members are at the core of what makes SFGC so special and your support, love, and dedication to Go has allowed us to make SFGC at the heart of San Francisco’s Japantown a reality. I look forward to working with each of you as we continue to elevate SFGC to the next level. Laslty, I’d like to take this time to give a special thanks to Mish Awadah, who I worked with closely since late last year and share a similar vision with for the club. His professionalism and passion for the club is contageous and I appreciate his help in my preparation for taking on this role. May your stones stay strong!
